Anyone tried the drag racing yet? seems a fun feature, but does anyone know if there's an 8 lane drag strip? as far as i can see, if you do 8 cars, they just stack them over 2 lanes. so 4 cars in each lane, one behind the other. Not very good if someone behind is faster, especially as theirs nowhere to overtake. I can't see an altrenative, but SURELy they would have thought of this when developing? any ideas?

I did a drag race with a friend the other night over xbox live and also splitscreen.

I've not tried an 8 player setup yet but people have been talking about doing them on here so must be possible.

From what I heard the other day on here there isnt an 8 lane 1 mile strip but the rest are all available

There is an 8 lane drag strip on the benchmark ring layout.

so can you select benchmark ring on the online multiplayer? if so that would solve it i guess.

with regards to the heats then, if yo uhad 8 players, how many heats would you have to set in order to cover all possibilities? surely it would be loads? anyone know how to set it up?

With the two lane one it'll do it automatically for however many heats you need. There will be a lot of possibilitys but there will only be 7 races happen because they'll all be going on at once.

The problem is they still have the countdown at the start so they remove the reaction time, instantly making it slightly dull.

yeah they should definately have incorporated reaction times. So if we just set 8 players and launch it will work the heats out itself? i assumed that everyone else would spectate the other races if they weren't racing therefore making the heats longer? so it does all the races at the same time?

i think it would be more fun in an 8 player room in the 8 lane setup. only have 7 running with 1 person doing the 3 - 2 - 1 - GGGGoooooooo!! Looser goes off??

I had a 4 car drag race the other night with some mates
... there werent 4 lanes tho thats for sure, or even heats!
.. we had the very same 2 lane track (which has plenty width) as per std drag race but with two starting up front and the other 2 cars started right behind..

The guy behind me had me on the gear changes (i was still using auto) and had to move over to the side to get past me!..

i dont know if it was timed individually for results as i didnt look, but a bit unfair if your in an 8 car drag race and start at the back as you'll have a 3 car length disadvantage from the front of the grid.

was all a bit weird.. not to mention the potential of a mass pileup with 4 cars each side jostling for position!

i guess its just a bit of fun tho more than serious racing

this is what annoyed me last night. i think if there's 8 players, and you go into advanced options, and for 8 players i guess yo uwould have to 28 heats so that everyone races each other? is thta right? would take a while but if it's all mates playing, would be fun spectating.
