Hi

I am trying to get some insurance for a VXR8 - can anyone recommend a company/broker to speak to?

We have three cars, 2 of which have max no claims on and our third car (which I am selling for the VXR8) only has one year no claims (although they gave us a 4 year equivalent introductory bonus). This insurer will not cover the VXR8 and so I have to start from scratch and am getting prices in excess of £1,100 with £3000 x/s, which when nearly 38 years old and a clean driving record, find a little difficult to understand!

We are considering Admiral's multicar and wondered if any of you could give any feedback on this or recommend an alternative.

Look forward to hearing from you guys...

Try Alex at Sky Insurance. They were the best for our Monaro

I am with Elephant and pay around £500 fully comp. I am somewhat older than you as well.
I have the maximum no claims so £1000+ with one years n/c sounds about right.
I thing that may be worth looking at is Swinton have a special second car policy which gives you a good rate if you have another car already insured.
I insured our Touran that way.
You could always try Confused.com or the like.

I've been with Admiral for just over 3 years with a multicar policy. Paid £620 for 3 cars with me and the wife as named drivers on all 3
6.0 VXR monaro
1.8 mazda mx5 sport
pug 306 gti-6

well worth fine tuning your online quote eg mileage / excess and the like it can make quite a difference to the premium

I'm with ecarinsurance on a multicar for our VXR8 and a BMW 325ti. It's about £600 for the pair of them, though I'm quite a bit older than you.

We do have multicar policies available.

If you want to e-mail me your details I will get someone to have a look at it and see what we can do.

I know I should not be broadcasting that I am over the big 50 weeping but the cheapest I could find was Saga £386 f/comp protected n/claims and one other named driver, didn't have to have a tracker either, 0% monthly payments.

If you do try saga on the net, after they have given you the quote, at the top of the page (easily missed) click the link "discount on the quote" and they will knock £30 off the quote if they give you a quote for house contents or buildings insurance, you dont have to take up the offer, just have the quote.

My contents/buildings insurance is £495 with abbey, Saga quoted £220 for same cover, I know where I will be going in March when my insurance runs out! biggrin

I tried everywhere for our 2 (VXR8 and BMW 523) inc Flux, ecarinsurance and others and found Admiral Multi-car the best by quite some margin.. which is contrary to other posts so can only assue the quotes seems to depend very heavily on age and location ?

Could you e-mail me your details just so I can have a look and see why we weren't competitive.

After an exhaustive search, I have to say A-plan are the best ! After a bit of competition with Classicline, A-plan finally reduced their quote to £30 less than Classicline, which made my day. All other insurers went weak at the knees and quoted ridiculous prices of over £1000 laugh when I mentioned vxr600! Greenlight had to be the funniest though, quoting me a full £1100 yikes more than A-plan

Thats weird cos A-Plan say they don't want to touch modified cars (or they do on the phone anyway).

Its these inconsistencies that annoy me.

Classicline were best for me this time round, by a sizeable margin.

Yes, I'm not sure if it's because I've insured with A-plan for the last two years or what, but all other insurers mentioned here were giving me the frozen shoulder, with ridiculous quotes, apart from Classicline. Not sure if they've had orders from 'Green' leader (no pun intended, although he seems to be quite happily building over and destroying the green belt now) to keep us of the road, but it does seem strange. Thumbs up to the Classicline boys though thumbup, keep it up!
