Trying to find an old sci-fi film. Any ideas?

Minimal information im afraid and as I remember.
Story based on Frankenstien (yeah, yeah I know..his monster).
It had a robot that was almost human.
Dated in the 1960s or 70's.
He became more human and realised he had to die.
I think he had an atomic heart that was going to explode?
one thing I do remember was a type of shaver that GAVE him hair.
He finished up going to the north/south pole to die(?).
