Hi,

I have a lean to on a victorian terrace house, currently it has a polycarbonate roof with wood timber joists.

Its very dated and Im trying to make the lean to feel more of a room.
What I would ideally like is to put a nice clear glass roof on it, but Im told the glass will weigh a lot and joists won`t be able to hold the weight.
They do glass clear polycarbonate but Im told this isn`t very thick and isn`t really used for roofs but more bus shelters, etc... as it seems vandal proof. This is on a property which we are renovating to sell on and so within reason looking for a cheap practical solution.

Any help or ideas appreciated.
Thanks
Rob

Double glazed glass units are a lot heavier than polycarb. Perhaps replace with a quality 5 wall polycarb?
