1982 2.8i conv...one hood strut has passed its sell by date.I (and previous owners) have welded it and it is cracking again. Anyone know if the later very smart alloy ones fit? (S Types??) or has anyone with a racer without hood got some spare ones? Of course this is only cosmetic as the hood never goes up !!!!
Personally and IMHO I think unless you go the hole way with Alley then the struts alone look out of place. IMHO of course.
I've asked my GRP man (the guy who's done the moulds for the SEAC wing and arches) if he can do the dash and the hood struts in Carbon.
Dave, If you need a short term solution I could probably find a strut for a nominal sum.

Twas leaning over the engine changing the fan belt one day when boing.... one of the strutts popped out on the RH side of the bonnet. The weight of the bonnet is now supported by just the left hand side. (Came out of the wing not the bonnet.)
How on earth do you depress these m**thers so I can get the fixing back in the hole where it popped out of ? Fixing had come loose and my leaning on it nudged it out bugger !
Any ideas. Just wondering how they come new out of the pack and are eased into place ???
Have tried a variety of he man type efforts but it's not looking good. Please help...

Sounds like there is too much pressure in them, I order some new ones, when they arrived they were so hard they could of lifted the cargo door on a cross channel ferry! They had a small allen key adjustment which allowed me to reduce the pressure to the correct rate.Maybe yours need adjusting too, assuming that they are not the originals.
I also have the alloy roof struts on my 400, apart from the fact they look nicer them seem to have a much more solid feel to them when putting the roof up than the originals did.
