Ive got a horrible sounding rattling noise which i've got a feeling could be turbo trouble. It only happens when on boost and when you can hear the air being sucked in.

Now yesterday i went for my new exhaust fitted, and on the way the oil return pipe split, (i think thats the pipe anyway),could this have caused some damage? Oil level was still above minimum after i stopped so didn't lose too much. Would the oil return be that big a problem, i would of thought the oil feed line would be much more a problem!

Thanks
Paul

May not be the turbo itself, i had a similar rattle turned out to be a dodgy gasket on the inlet side of the turbo.

Had a rattle on mine, found to be the bolts loose on the exhaust flange after having a new roush exhaust fitted by a dealer.

yikes

Jesus...even I managed to tighten the bolts sufficiently when I did the front turbo...

OP, was the oil return split badly? And did you check the oil level after the car had fully cooled? Level always reads higher when warm. Any nasty noises before stopping?

No nasty noises before it split, and yeh checked level after the engine had cooled, was at the exhaust place for 12 hours so plenty of time for cooling!!

I checked all exhaust flanges i can get at and seem to be tight.
Another point, the oil return pipe was silicone, i thought silicone is no good for oil? I replaced it with rubber lined stainless braided hose anyway.

How strange, I get a very faint rattly noise, only started this week, when on boost or when I have taken the boot off the loud peddle and decelerating, could that be anything to do with the turbo or any other suggestions?

Silicone pipes can be oil rated.
I would have thought if the turbo was that bad you would notice a drop in boost.
