Hi

I got my new Elise last week and have two or three times now accidently went over the 3000rpm limit. Gone from 4th to 3rd etc as I got used to the gears - doh.
so I went to I dunno, 5 or 6,000RPM momentarily.

When I go in for my 1,000 mile service will they pull me up for this and tell me my warranty is now invalid?

cheers

Don't worry about it, the important thing for running in the engine is sustained rpm, if you keep it to 3000 rpm on the motorway (best way to clock up the miles) it doesn't matter if you occasionally go over with the run-over on down changes. The point of running in is to gradually increase the stress on the working parts of the engine (and car in general) so that as they harden/soften/lengthen etc they don't overly stress themselves. Engines nowadays are much more tolerant of abuse than they used to be and I never had any mention of running-in with my dealer when I got my elise or at any of the services since.
