Hello,

I'm after some tiles to re-do the gents at the pub. Now, we've seen the tiles we want in Topps Tiles (i.e. the colour and size) but I'm sure that Topps can't be the cheapest (can it?!). So, does anyone have any recommendations of where else to look?

Cheers,
Phil.

Just plain ceramic tiles? Try some local trade suppliers. I bought matt white ceramic tiles (big ones, maybe 450x300 IIRC) from Travis Perkins and they were waaaay cheaper than anywhere else. That was about 80m2.

I also bought 20m2 of solid granite (black star-galaxy) tiles brand new from a guy on ebay. stonesalesuk I think was the name of the ebay store, helpful bloke, fast service and very good prices:

it is quite easy to get a trade card from topps. when i applied i game them an invoice from plumb centre and one from b&q . do not discount b&q and the like. when they have a promotion on they can be unbeatable

I agree that sometimes B&Q can be very cheap but, often, their cheapest stuff can be absolutely rotten quality. Just be careful!

My in-laws bought 8 or 9 boxes of mock-travertine ceramic tiles there, the last boxes they had in stock while an offer was on and there were dozens of broken tiles in the boxes. They were very thin and, TBH, not THAT much cheaper than the trade places.

Easy to get a decent discount, but I was after some slate, and haggled it cheaper at Mandarin Stone in the end. Just do your research ad play them off against each other. I do recall a place in Stevenage (www.agceramics.co.uk) that were negotiable, but I had already made up my mind.

We want sandstone colour but "ceramic" finish - if that makes sense. About a 10" x 12" tiles.

Thanks for the ideas everyone - I'm off to have a look on eBay too. Cheers!
