E bay confusion

I am not a very experienced E bay user, and am a little confused about a purchase I thought I made (but haven't).

Am item was advertised as buy it now or best offer.
I made an offer, the auction ended, I hadn't won.

Looking at the bidding history my offer was the highest, the other offers said declined by seller next to them, mine said offer expired.

I just wondered what it meant, as my offer didn't say declined.

I don't know, but I'm sure there'll be another one along soon, plenty more fish in the Ebay sea. Best way over a lost ebay purchase is to get balls deep in another, better, purchase.

The listing probably ended before the seller had a chance to accept or decline it.

Hence, expired by default as the listing has ended.

You haven't bought the item.
