We are going for a weeks family holiday next August to Seahouses, I'm hoping to get away for at least a day and wondering if there are any tracks fairly close offering track day car hire nearby?

Thanks

Not really.
Croft circuit is offering less trackdays now due to noise restriction.

Tesside is fairly close but I am not sure about car hire. I've never been to Tesside autodrome so cant comment on the track.

Teeside is a great karting track, but it would need a fairly small agile car to enjoy it.

Have you been on one of the trackdays & experienced the cars there?? Porsche 997 GT3's, 968's 944's, Lola T70, Exiges, Elises, Caterhams, Westfields, Minis, GT3 Cup racecar, radicals, .............. Maybe you need to try it before you give an opinion!!! Have a look at their forum, and see if there are any negative comments,...... it's a bit like sex, don't knock it until you've tried it!!!!

I did the 24 hour kart race in August and thought it must be a fairly small track to drive a car around. It's just under a mile for a lap on the kart circuit, how big's the track layout for cars then?

Could that depend a little on where you're starting from perhaps? wink

As Howard says, on the first three track days we have run we have had a variety of cars from the "Caterfield" and Elise/Exige genre right up to a full-on Porsche GT3RS endurance racer (which incidentally was hitting 135 mph on the straight), a Lola T70 (replica of the 60's Le Mans sports car, with a Corvette engine in it producing 600+ bhp) and several other "larger" and more powerful cars. So far no-one has complained that the track is too small for them.

The lap length according to Circuit Guides is 1.2 miles, but I think it's nearer 1 mile. But that's no problem. The main thing is that the track is wide enough for cars. Don't go there expecting it to be on a par with Oulton Park, Donington, Silverstone or Croft, it's not! But it is a perfectly good venue for car track days and it's two-fifths of the price of most!
