These 'funny picture' threads...

On the ' Comic pictures thread' thread, a ‘questionable’ picture posted by Artov60 at 11:10. Removed by Big Al at 12:08. Fair enough.

But then the thread is closed by Kinky an hour and a half later – why? (were there more dodgy pictures subsequently being posted?).

But then the ‘ Pictures that almost make you spit your coffee thread’, which has been closed for 6(?) months, has now been removed altogether. There can’t have been any more pictures added to it recently (as it was closed), so why the need to delete the topic all of a sudden?

Yes to answer that question, there have also been other posts deleted from that thread prior to it's closure.

The problem with that type of thread is that swear filters cannot be enforced. What some members seem to forget that PH is a family site and is viewed by all ages groups, old and young alike.

I think a subject that does need discussion by HM is whether there is a need for any NSFW content on PH? In some companies it can be instant dismissal for viewing such content.

I will raise the subject again behind closed doors.

As to why the other thread was removed? no idea, but it may be something to do with my NSFW comment.

Al makes the point really, we closed it before it required more and more moderation. Closing topics isn't something that we do lightly, and is only considered when things go too far, or when the moderation time required to keep it open becomes unreasonable.

As for the other thread you mention, as Al says, we'll need to look into that as I am unsure why it has disappeared completely.

Firstly, the reason the thread was closed was due to continual inappropriate images being posted. It's a consistent rule that's applied, as Al and Garlick confirm above.

As for why the other thread was removed - I was meant to remove it 6 months ago, but forgot about it. But I was very kindly reminded of that earlier, so did remove it. The reason being that it was a duplicate thread with duplicate images. And that was made VERY clear on the closing notice on that thread.

Totally agree re the NSFW/innapropriate content, however it is a shame that the whole therad has been deleted, as there was a lot of funny stuff in there, and the dodgy content can only have accounted for <5% (if that).

I think that multiple 'binned' plus spells in the sinbin for those who post the dodgy stuff, would be a better solution as

1) It doesn't spoil it for the rest of us , and
2) Serves as a warning that 'dodgy' content will not be tolerated.
