"Mr Grumpy" is living up to his name again this year. Had service done, he ran roughly, soon sorted though. Came back home, noticed water on the garage floor, hmmmmmm. Expansion tank low/empty, swirl pot still OK. Just need to find where it's leaking. Fear it's going to be a new Rad. Would our thoughts be correct.

Not necessarily. I have had 2 coolant leaks which turned out to be a perished pipe and a broken jubilee clip respectively. You may be being overly pessimistic!
