Stock Eliminator rules - I don´t get it
Discussion
Hi DragHeads !
I was looking at the race results from Las Vegas,
Spencer Tramm sadly lost in round 1 of Stock Eliminator.
But why ? I do not understand it, he was closer to his dial-in than his opponent ?
Copied from dragracecentral :
Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----
800 Spencer Tramm
C1 0.116 11.955 92.37
E/SA Index: 12.30 (+/-): -0.345
Qualified: #102 11.791 96.24
Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
7155 Leo Glasbrenner
Qualified: #5 10.883 119.84
Can anyone make me smart on this one ?
Thanks,
Benni

In Stock Eliminator if both cars have the same class prefix (E/SA) then there's no breakout so it's whoever gets to the finish first. If the cars have different class prefixes then the driver displays a dial-in whereupon the race becomes a normal bracket race, but the driver cant dial-in a time slower than the class' predefined index.
Yesterday's was some kind of additional eliminator where they ran like with like so all pairs were heads-up and first to the finish won.
In eliminations proper today (so as my esteemed boss says, Spencer is still in) they will be running to dial-in, or heads-up if both of the same class.
Edit: Stock Eliminator eliminations are tomorrow (Saturday), not today. Go Spencer!

I never did "get" Stock and Super-Stock. 90% of the time they are just bracket racing with a couple of extra rules chucked in. But they also have a huge problem with tech inspections to ensure each car corresponds to NHRA's idea of a stock or SS condition. Why not have a quick 64 bracket field and be done with it? The bleachers are empty for sportsman racing in most cases, they're all off to get a bucket of fries, a gallon of coke and a John Force signed cap.
Bah 'umbug!

As long as he's still living that dream of his, I really don't think my brother would be too bothered by this. Bah 'umbug!

Spencer runs a full half-second under his E/SA class index and manages to qualify just 118th in the 128-car field.
Class eliminations:
In Stock and/or Super Stock at selected NHRA events, separate eliminations are conducted to crown a champion in each individual class before the main eliminator eliminations take place (if you get what I mean). These class run-offs take place early in the event; few people watch but the racers take them very seriously. However, the SS/AH class run-off at the US Nationals has become a prominent feature of that event in recent years, designated as the Mopar Hemi Challenge.
This weekend's Stock and Super Stock entry lists at Las Vegas total 249, not far off a full house at Santa Pod.

In all honesty we could have qualified higher as we were only running it out to 1000ft, because you have to run heads up against other E/SA cars we decided to play it safe and see where we would be on the ladder and try and aviod the quick E/SA cars. Got drawn against a C/S or B/S car (can't remember) and went .037 on the tree and left 2nd!!! Quite pleased with how it all went, hopefully testing some more on Thursday before the Divisional starts on Friday.
