Bit of help needed

Dear all,
I'm trying to make this
.
I need a giant ball to wrap the fabric around though.
It needs to be made for tomorrow night.
We've already tried paper macheing round beach balls and "mega balls" but they keep going down.
& i dont think we're going to have enough time to make any more paper mache & time for it to dry.
The ball needs to be between about 19-25 inches.
If anyone has any suggestions it'd be much appreciated!
The materials need to be readily available!

Create a chicken wire (25mm mesh, not the big mesh stuff) globe around a ball of the size you require. Then mache it with newspaper and PVA glue (watered down slightly). You'll need 2 or 3 coats but PVA drives nice and quickly. You can either leave the chicken wire in place (recommended, just put some padding round the neck hole) or cut the globe in half, remove chicken wire and patch the 2 halves back together. It'll be quite flimsy then though.
bookmarked as we are making these next month for a mates birthday.. be good to know how you went on. We were just going to follow the videos on youtube.Yeah so were we, we can't find 20" hamster balls or a cheap buoy.
The hard plastic ones are the crab pot markers and are only about 8inches across.

I think we're going to have to purchase ANOTHER beach ball, chicken wire it and then maybe a layer of mache.
TIP - Instead of using paper mache use the stuff they use to plaster walls, its like a fine mesh and dries hard like a material

You need plastazote. It's a foam based sheet that is completely flexible. We use in Theatre for making masks etc. It's great stuff. Try http://www.flints.co.uk/
