I know some of you will be looking into modifications for a winter project, so just thought i would post some pics to give ideas.

I love the look of the top intakes on this schematic, me and Peter have been discussing this mod, looks great from the front aswell as functional, but would notbe exactly the same as on thsi schematic, the Ic intake would remain the same, it would only be for pulling more air through the engine bay.

Below is trackinstructers cool clam mod, i like side vents and the rear lights on this one.

Below is PC's perspex frog light cover, very effective for anybody with the old clam who doesnt want to go to great expense with changing the entire front clam.

Below is a photshop of PC's convertible mod, which i believe a prototype was made, not sure if anybody has paid to have this mod done, would be interested to find out.

Below is PC's underpan mod which vents air from the wheel arch.

Then there is PC;s fastback mod which improves air flwo over the car and forces air into the IC.

Then there is Adrians awesome machine showing only some of the Aero Mods, which i believe are available fron Reverie, is that your company Adrian?

Btw, did you ever end up taking your car to VIR and pitting it aginst the US counterparts in the US.

That's a terrible idea and about the last thing you want to do.

Hmmm, looks complex. How about the Lotus design - one centre roof vent directing air straight into an enslosed fastback cover?

Not that i intend chopping the roof of Artie's old car (!!!) but has anyone done a targa version of their M12. Its something i was contemplating whilst cleaning the M12 the other day. I cant see why it would work any worse than say a gallardo or fezza - or am i just being a clueless numpty ?

I have thought about that one myself, just too small sections of roof that can unclip and be put behind the seats, sounds easy but i think once started there would be a lot of work involved, have to create fastener system, the roof lining would have to be redone, bodywork, repaint and then there is creating the rubber seal detail for when the pieces are back in place, it can be done but i estimate it would take about 40 hours and lots of thinking about the detail, without it looking a mess.

Advice taken on board Phil smile I think if i were going to do any wheel arch mod, it would be the top vents from Adrian, also adds a more built for business look to the car IMO.

Just out of interest what are the technical reasons for it being a bad idea, i just like to gather knowledge, is it because you are pushing air under the car?
Btw Paul whats happened to your website? i cant seem to get access to all your mods and pics anymore, i am right in thinking you own salica racing or have i got mixed up?
i was very intesrested in the dashpod.

Paul, one area that this may work better, is the narrow ( and empty I might add ) sill area on either side of the car's pan which dead ends into the front side of the rear wheel well covers, and also is open into the engine bay. On the 3R's there is more space open than on M400s due to heat exchangers, but there is still a pathway into the engine bay for air on either model. We made a mod several months ago which scavenges / pulls air from under the car on each side mid way between the wheels fore / aft, into the sill cavity ( which we opened up before hand and sealed up on all sides ) which funnels / rams air aft down the cavity into the engine bay. This has worked well for us, helps to some extent cool the fuel pump, and trans exchanger on the US drivers side, and the Acusump on the US passenger side, and also seems to help get more air into the engine bay keeping things cooler. Instead of a NACA duct, we used forward facing louvered vents upside down, which we have been quite happy with to date with the results. Instead of pressurizing the wheel wells which would not be good as noted, we're pressurizing / putting more air into / through the engine bay. This is also a solution Derek / Troy have used on the "green machine" ( which is now Troys I believe ) for other forced air issues in the engine compartment. wink

Dear All,
Heads a bit clearer now. What I forgot as that these vents were not anything to do with the wheelarch. They are in the floor on either side ahead of the rear wheels and on the (UK) drivers side the duct points at the alternator - to prevent high temp induced failures, and on the passenger side the duct was split one to the fuel pump and the other to the engine bay.
So they are doing exactly as Derek did.

In addition I am nothing to do with Salica Racing.

My Noble related web sites are;

http://www.pimpyournoble.co.uk/index.html

and

http://paulcundy.smugmug.com/gallery/359222#142770...

and the picture of the blue car with no roof is a picture of a model of the M12 where the roof had not yet been painted, it was never a prototype or anything like that.

Paul C

Played with NACA ducts and Gurney's under the rear of the car, the datalogger showed no temp improvement for any of the engine components or the engine bay, In the end we eliminated virtually all of the high pressure air under the car, so these mods became pointless.

So where do you find the brackets to stop the front splitter falling and what size are they? I now have a front splitter for my M400 so these could come in useful for when I remove the front clam (but still waiting for the drip dray!!)

Are they an exact size of some of the univerasl eBay supports?
