This morning the phone rang and I didn't catch the far east/American pronounced name and company when I answered and I was about to give the usual answer to cold callers when I asked if she could repeat what she said a little slower....'name...from Ebay, I would just like your opinion on buying counterfeit or fake items'
I told her that I had not bought anything fake as I don't buy fashion items but I did tell her that as a seller I was not happy about the way Paypal and Ebay now automatically take the side of the buyer with disputes.
I told her about the guy who sold a genuine Rolex for £2k+ and when the buyer received it they claimed against the seller and Paypal that it was a fake. The buyer returned the watch and it was a fake that was sent back, but it wasn't the watch the seller posted out.
Seller then loses not only their money and watch and has a worthless fake for his trouble.
I then changed the subject a little and told her about the run flats that I had listed on Ebay only to have the listing taken down because I had broken their rule about specifying a payment method which was 'payment to my bank rather than Paypal' Incidentally it was taken down about half an hour after I posted on here about my wording after it had been up a couple of days.
I told her after she removed it I posted it on another car related forum that they were for sale and I sold them the day after, the same amount of cash deposited into my bank within hours for same amount they had been listed for, saving me the final value fees!
I told her that their rule of specifying a payment method didn't seem to apply to themselves as they are now forcing sellers to accept paypal without the option of specifying only another preferred option.
I told her that I prefer bank to bank transactions because it costs me nothing and the payment is there between a couple of hours to a day or two depending on which banks the transfers are between. Also with paypal taking five days to transfer to my bank is another reason to me avoiding paypal.
I then told her that I offer to pay bank to bank for some of the more expensive items I have bought from small sellers.
For me the Paypal protection means nothing as I research the seller feedback and that tells me all I need to know.
I then launched another attack on their new policy of 'free postage' with record sales. Most sellers used to listing at a .99p start to encourage bidding and now if it only sells for .99p then that will result in a loss after the fvf and the cost of posting. Now record sellers have to start at an amount to cover the cost of postage with the effect that less bidders bid on items now as the start price is higher and it's also now costing the seller a listing fee.
I said it won't be long before people start looking at alternative ways to sell their records.
When she asked about my overall Ebay satisfaction I gave it 5 out 10 and I said that I felt that Ebay had moved from it's original philosophy when it started, to one now where it has to extract as much money as possible from everybody who uses it.

Haven't got a call, but share (part) your sympathies.
Ebay has become a serious money making machines (basicly havving an "app" running that generates tonnes of money, with not that much maintenance).
However, it's a free market, and if they can, good on them.
I'm trying alternative ways more and more often.

It was probably a scam caller, and you put her to sleep with your whining. I told her that I had not bought anything fake as I don't buy fashion items but I did tell her that as a seller I was not happy about the way Paypal and Ebay now automatically take the side of the buyer with disputes.
