Yes, the UK's finances are in the sh11t but we need to spend an enormous sum year after year on something that won't do anything. Now is that insane or what? ...

"...German Chancellor Angela Merkel said the financial cost should not be included in the EU's proposed package of ambitious climate change targets - at least not until other nations signal their readiness to pay their share. But the summit text puts a 100 billion euros-a-year (£89.6 billion) price on curbing global warming by 2020, of which annual public funding is estimated at 22-50bn euros.(£19.7bn - £44.8bn.) The EU's combined share of that would be between 7-10bn euros (£6.2bn - £8.96bn) a year by 2020.
UK officials say that, subject to the "conditional offer" being accepted in Copenhagen, the UK share of the EU contribution would work out at about £1bn a year by 2020..."

if this is the cost od nuclear power then so be it. If its going to be squandered on windmills and global warming prevention officers then it is of course a waste of money.

Its just another way of the Gov taking control of more of the economy. At this rate given 10 years we will all earn the same and be paid by the state. All in the name of Climate Change. Even though cows farts do more damage than cars. Answer. Kill all the cows.. Problem solved.

The future is bright. The future is Crimson

More money thrown away here: furious

UK Rises Nigeria's Aid To N35 Billion : (NC) : In realisation of Nigeria's poverty challenge, the United Kingdom (UK) is poised to increase aid to the country from £15 million in 1999 to £140 million (about N35 billion) by next year. The Department for International Development (DFID), which announced this, said the UK aid to Nigeria stood at £120 million (about N30 billion) this year "in recognition of Nigeria's poverty reduction challenge, and reform efforts". Consequently, the DFID will be participating in the launch of a joint Country Partnership Strategy with other agencies. The strategy, according to a statement, would ensure that international assistance is focused on the right priorities, which would in turn allow development partners to co-ordinate more effectively with the National Planning Commission to avoid duplication and increase the impact of assistance.

How can we do this, I thought the UK was on IMF life support - is the government borrowing money and then giving it away, leaving us with the debt plus interest?

I think it;s time to stop sending money elsewhere, and spend it on the people actually giving the money to the government. Absurd state of affairs.
