A quickie here....

I am upgrading my father's PC tomorrow, and updating him from Win 95 to Win 2000

I plan to download the service packs at home, and burn them to CD, to install on my father's PC, to save downloading time whilst at his house.

Can I just download SP4, or will I need SP1, SP2, and SP3, and then install them in order?

Thanks Neil,

That's what I thought, but when I looked at the info for SP4, it says that minimum requirement is SP2?!

Isnt there a SP6? for 2000

Best thing to do is go on to the update site, as it will have all the security patches too.

I thought that SP4 was the most recent for Win 2000

I plan to put SP4 and a few of the security updates (to avoid blaster etc) before I connect his machine to the internet. Then I'll do a "windows update" to bring it bang up to date.

sp6a was the last official sp for Nt4 (sp7 was promised but cancelled). sp4 is that latest for Win2k
