Do you know they haven't done anything else to the car? Still, that £2.5k will need to cover advertising, insurance, putting up with tyre kickers and potentially having £30k-odd tied up in a car that might not shift for a while.
If something goes bang that isn't covered by the warranty then £2.5k might not go far to covering something that the dealer has to thanks to PH's old friend SOGA.

Is no dealership allowed to make reasonable profit from buying and selling TVRs without the wrath of the experts one having a cheap pop? Get a life, less than 3 grand to prep the car, send it out as it should be, provide a warranty, pay VAT out of the profit, contribute to overheads..nah, bunch of thieves

Dealer making a couple of grand sounds about right to me. As said above dealer has to prep the car, advertise it, use their resources giving test drives etc, provide warrenty, pay rent on a showroom / premises etc. so the couple of grand extra they receive is not all profit & everyone has to make a living.
I believe how many of these operations work is joe blogs wants £30k for their car. Dealer agrees to advertise it sale or return (sell the car and give the owner their £30k or return the car at NO COST to the owner).
The owner of car gets the asking price, the dealer gets a couple of grand for advertising, and various other expenses as mentioned above as a reasonable amount of profit (they are a business and not a charity case after all). Dealer takes risk on any comeback / faults the car may have e.g. clutch going within a few days which the warrenty would not pay out for.
End customer pays a couple of grand more because of the dealers involvement but has the reassurance that any problems will be taken care of and usually has the option of a finance package which they wouldn't have got from a private sale.
EVERYONES A WINNER.
I personally wouldn't buy from a dealer but I know plenty of people who are not too mechanically minded and would happily stump up the extra cash for the peace of mind.

I just can't see it at all. If a dealer thought they would only make £2500 on a £30000+ car they simply wouldn't buy it. All IMHO of course
Thats my car. I drove it down to Fernhurst yesterday.
The signed contract I have means I have to withdraw my ad from Pistonheads but im still on the forum if anyone has any questions.
Sods law the day I take it down to them i get my first 2 calls in a month form potential buyers and now there is this forum topic. Its with Fernhurst for eight weeks now.
very sad to see it go. Hopefully noone buys it and I figure out a way to keep it before 8 weeks is up

ks,only if ,very hard to keep clean.just with thr recession biting harder than ever,IMO,and it being the end of season,this is all i can think would be against a sale.as for the price,IMO,the mark up is not too bad,i think there is some dealers who would charge a lot more,i could have bought my car[which i have a year today,happy halloween]on pistonheads for a couple of grand,maybe slightly less going private but prefared to buy from someone who could give me piece of mind,a certain james agger.
i hope you can find a way to keep it,but if you cant,good luck with the sale,and i would reccomend a t350c as replacement,not just as sorted,but the best looking tvr.
