heater valve wiring-help please!
Discussion
just been out for a blat in the griff and my heater was permanantly stuck on hot.had a look at the heater valve in the passenger footwell and the wires have come off.i have one loose white wire, and a blue and a green wire which have been twisted together.the valve just spins round continuously now,and it looks like whats happened is the white wire came off then the vave spun continuously causing the blue and green wires to break off.i can only see two terminals for the wires to attatch to.can anybody show me a piccie of the wiring in place on the end of the vave please.i assume i doesnt matter which terminals you attatch the wires to as there are only 2,but id like to know for sure.sorry for s.a. length question,cheers-mv
update.have had a good look further on in the upside down depths of the footwell and can see another vave of the same type.now i know which wires go where.i have a problem though in that one of the terminals has broken off completely.question:can the terminal end of the valve be detatched from the actual valve itself, thus saving me removing coolant pipes and making a mess? id like to try and mend the terminal before buying a whole new valve.any help greatly appreciated-mv
If the wires were attatched to this "thing", its the variable resistor. The triangular thing is just the adjustable part of it, its main body is black and about 1cm round. It will simply pull of once the philips screw is removed. If you dont have a white painted mark on the valve to show when it is closed, it will take a few attempts to adjust the variable resistor, well actually many attempts as the inner wing heats up and will confuse things even more, ah the joys !
david, sounds like its definately the part i need,as i said earlier the terminals broken off on mine.ill greatfully accept your kind offer to send me one(will send you my address by e-mail)as long as you let me treat you to a couple of
.when you re-assemble is there any calibration procedure to set it up other than aligning the white markings(luckily i have these)?cheers-mv. david, you now have mail.

david, just been preparing for the job earlier today.with the glovebox removed is very much easier to get at the motor and will be better for me and my back!.btw did your motor spin continuously when this resistor packed up?,just curious as ive been reading other threads on this problem and a range of solutions apply to my symptoms.
