And yet Labour keep hailing the scheme as one of their greatest achievements towards ['helping Britain out of the recession'.

What a load of bks!

This has helped the rest of Europe's car industries, but certainly not Britain's.

The scappage scheme has only lined the coffers of foreign motor companies. It has actually harmed Joe public as perfectly good cars have been scrapped, which in turn has pushed prices up in the second-hand market due to reduced supply. Labour Only wants us to to spend and push up GDP figures before the next election..... then tell to stop spending and live within our means, you couldn't make it up.

They failed to point out the blimd obvious, that its very easy to get 4-figure discounts of most mainstream cars.
