throttle cable replacement

hi i'm having a bit of struggle with this.I've done the engine end first secured
with the split pin, threaded the inner wire down the outer arrives out the hole
by the loud pedal.

trying to line up the wire with the hole in the top of the pedal is bloody hard!.
Is it best to remove the bolt/spindle that goes through the pedal and then thread the wire through the hole in the top of the pedal and bolt back up?

or is there a trick way?

my back hurts...

its a 4.3 pre cat if that makes a difference.

Yep, it is back braking. I ended up removing the throttle peddle to connect the cable on the peddle end. Probably easier if you use a small child.

yes i thought about using my 3 y/o son chimney sweep style

cheers pedal off then,though the little grub screw/stop nut that goes over the wire don't look like its got much guts.

the old busted cable had a cast nipple that went in a slot in the pedal,similar to a bike brake cable!

Hell no. Take the engine end off, feed plenty of inner through into the footwell and engage it on the pedal. You might need to open the slot up on the pedal with a flat bladed screwdriver (it's quite soft). After you have the pedal end secured, simply refit the engine end.

the old cable did run in the slot but occasionally would pop out!, theres a metal ferrule under the slot which i want to feed the cable through which will stop this
and the slot chafing/cutting through the cable.

The cable shouldn't run in the slot directly, there's a metal ferule on the cable which fits into a 'keyhole' slot at the end of the pedal. You only need to get the cable through the slot to fit/remove the cable. With the ferule correctly engaged in the pedal there's absolutely no way for the cable to 'pop out'.
