Maybe in a year or so , I'm thinking of replacing my current VR6 with a MK 4 R32.

A friend of mine had a new one for a few years and it certainly made a great impression!

As I've owned my VR6 for over 6 years and has been very reliable on annual trips to Le Mans etc, I was wondering if anyone has run an R32 into high Mileages with any expensive maintenence stories like £1000 clutch changes, etc.

Or not if the case may be!

I won't be spending more than 9k and don't plan to change it for years, so no point buying a car that's great when new but a nightmare when secondhand!

Strangely enough I had this conversation with the owner of a 120ishk Bora 4 motion about 2 hours ago!

His has needed:

Rear diff
Two different gear selector forks
Lots of tyres and brakes

I get the impression it does not get driven gently, ever.

Have a look at the R32 section of www.Tyresmoke.net

There's a few owners there with well over 100k and no major problems.

I sold mine for sub-£10k in Feb with 45000 miles & only the odd minor niggle.
