I'm going to look at a 3.0 M3 tomorrow with a good bit of mileage on the clock. I know the engine is bomb proof but there's got to be a shelf life for a highly strung engine such as the M's?
The car has seen a few track days as well so it hasn't been driven by a granny.
What are the main things to look out for on a car with 170,000 miles on the clock?

Should I even bother?

The price of these cars has dropped to ridiculous levels, so unless you are getting it almost for nothing, i wouldnt bother. There are loads out there, where the big / expensive items have already been done and the miles are still quite low. I say, take your time and get a good one, they are out there.

How much? I would have thought between £1500-£1750 depending on condition, etc.

Its for sale in Ireland and the asking price is €4250. Cars are a lot more expensive over here thanks to our tax on tax system employed by the degenerates in gov't(VRT)

I might just leave it and hold out for a better example.

Are there any restrictions on coming over here to buy a car and take back? I assume you'd have to reregister it, but sounds like it would be worth the effort.

It's still on English plates so I would have to pay VRT on it.

Cheers for looking anyway beer
