I know this has probably come up before, but the search facility seems to be out of service when I look, probably my pc 
What is the usual oil to put into the 5.7 2006 cv8 I see on the Fish site they recommend fully synthetic, I would guess the engine in its standard state would only need basic oil, has anyone got any input on this.

If you cane it hard, put something good in like a fully synthetic (expensive). I use Mobil 1 (which down under is OEM) but I use a competition grade. Synthetics can take a lot more heat before breaking down.
If you are a sympathetic driver with a tight wad, just choose a recognized branded mineral oil. If I was using one I would use Valvoline, just my preference because I used that in my racing big blocks and it never let me down. Use the grades advised in your handbook.
The oil is blood to a motor, never put crap in and always use a good filter too.
