new chimaera 'Takara' quickest TVR !!
Discussion
I test drove the new 'Takara' 5ltr supercharged upgrade on a 'N' plate chim today at TVR Power.
Fitted with the new 18" back and 17" front alloys this car looks the dogs. I have owned a red rose tuscan, a tamora and a T350 and this car is faster than any of them.
Good move by TVR,big slap on the back,booked mine in this week. Any Warwickshire owners out there can see it at the meeting at the Bear 2moz.

The Taraka 500 is the name they've given to the new upgrade for the 5 litre V8s. It is not supercharged.
Details will be going on their website soon, but I'm sure they won't mind me posting it here first:
Cylinder Head Re-working;
The cylinder heads are re-worked with balanced combustion chambers and modified ports. All installed valve spring pressures and heights are measured and re-worked to TVR Power’s own specification.
Inlet Manifold Re-working;
The inlet manifold is re-worked with larger ports and a modified trumpet base, and all inlet ports and gaskets are matched and blended to remove any obstruction.
Crankshaft Assembly;
All components in the assembly are re-balanced on our own dynamic crank balancer to give a smoother, vibration free delivery.
Valvetrain Assembly;
The camshaft is replaced by one specifically developed by TVR Power for this application, which is timed in with a degree wheel for maximum power. This also enables us to use “solid” mechanical lifters with adjustable push-rods operating steel valve rocker arms.
Plenum Top / Air Intake;
The plenum top is bored out to over 70m/m and a larger brass butterfly is fitted along with a specially machined aluminium bell mouth to increase intake volume.
ECU EPROM Chip;
The standard 500 chip is replaced with one specially developed for this up-grade, giving a smooth spread of power throughout the rev range.
OPTIONAL EXTRA—Baffled Sump;
If you intend to do a lot of track-days in your car, we would highly recommend that you have one of these fitted. This will help to protect your engine from oil surge and fluctuating oil pressure especially on circuits where cornering speeds and loads are high. £192 + VAT (Exchange)

Ted,
I thought they were already (www.tvr-power.co.uk/demo500.htm) - or is that something different?

I spoke to Dom at TVR Power on Saturday afternoon when he gave me the info I've just published. I'll check out the supercharging thing. He's not mentioned that to me yet.
Not saying I don't believe you Tin Man, it's just that it's not in the specs that I've been given to date.

OCS,
The Griff you saw at Peninsula, I don't suppose it was a colour shift one, changing from purple to green by any chance?
If it was, then it was mine - the car's been away for three months now and I am desperate to get it back. Apparently, it was on the rolling road with Mark Adams on Friday and I am desperate to find out the BHP/torque figures.
Did the colour look good, cause I haven't seen it yet?
