Is an old Probe worth saving?
Discussion
Ive just taken a 95 reg Ford Probe 24v in against a car I was selling. Its a fairly straight old thing-76k miles, full main dealer service history, last owner 10 years, leather, rear wing etc.Theres a few bits of rust on the bootlid and around the sunroof hatch, nothing terminal.
Ive never had a Probe before and was thinking of spending a few hundred getting the bodywork done and then running it as my winter car to get me to and from work in the bad weather.
There seem to be very few of these around now.Has anyone ran one for any period of time and what do they think? Is it worth tidying up or should I run it straight down to the local car auction and have done with it!?
I remember Clarkson quite liked them at when they were new and remember the phrase about them being able to snap knicker elastic at 50 paces.I also remember that Gareth Cheeseman ran one!

Did you keep it or get rid?
Ive been using it for work the last few weeks during the bad weather so Ive still got it.The engine runs brilliantly and the car only has 76k on the clock with full Ford service history and the last owner had it for 10 years.Thats the good bit...
The bad bit is that looking closer at the car there is more rust than I originally thought so it looks like I'll end up putting this one through the local car auction!
Aside from the looks I'm not sure whats actually bad about them. They're not all that sporty to drive, although I only blipped a 2.0 up the road. It's a Mazda MX-6 underneath, and the Mazda looks 100times better!
Plus, check out the price of parts from Ford before planning any repairs. Cambelt change on a V6 using Ford parts pushes £400 in parts alone! Horrific prices, becuase Ford buy from Mazda who've already chipped a bit on. Ford then do the same, along with the Rangers and later Mavericks.
