VXR8 electrical/fuse query

Was driving home this morning in heavy rain on dual carriageway. Had been driving for 30 minutes when I put fog lights on (front and rear) when visibility got really poor. All was well for about a minute then had both windscreen wipers and all exterior lights go off at the same time leaving wipers in the middle of the screen and a wife freaking out at the sudden loss of visibility. Everything else was fine. Interior lights all ok. No warning lights of any type. Indicators and windows and everything else electrical seemed a-ok. Just lost exterior lights and windscreen wipers.
Was only a couple a mile or so from home so limped home safely. Now waiting for rain to ease before going to check fuses. Wife now calm too.
Just wanted to post here to see if this was probably just one of those unlucky things or whether this might be a familiar issue to other VXR8 owners? Don't see any similar posts so am guessing it's the former.
