Are there any boats that are mobile slaughterhouses? For example they could pick up lambs in New Zealand and somewhere around Cyprus start slaughtering them for fresh off-season lamb. Does anyone do this at present? Is it practical?

So for most of the journey it's a mobile farm. Dunno about costs but for fresh meat, sounds like an idea. Won't go down too well with those who like their lambs running around in fields, though.

And why not just buy British lamb instead? What's so special about NZ lamb? (Not a food connoisseur here.)

What's the advantage over shipping live lambs and slaughtering them on arrival?

As for the NZ question, well I'd rather support Kiwis than Frogs, and a Braeburn from 12,000 miles away somehow seems to be cheaper than one from England.
