Yes, especially if the tyres are cold.

It is winter - are you sure the roads have been 'dry' in the few days you have owned it?
would recommend you take it easy until May/June now.
Which cerb did you buy?

if you bought the one with the horrible grill i wonder if thats having an affect on the bonnet lifting as i hear that the air flow under the front can affect the bonnet lifting. also check to see if the small lip spolier under the front bumper is missing (it normally is) this will also make the bonnet lift. very easy to forget to lock the bonnet down and i've found that some cars have a small peice of rubber under the locking bars of the bonnet which help secure it better.

I guess you mean my car. The 'horrible grill' does not affect the airflow it is there to stop trackday gravel and general stones hitting the £400 rad I believe.

The lifting bonnet will be down to missing spoiler, loose bonnet pins, or bonnet bracket at the front.

If your car has the rear dampers on a very stiff setting this will increase the tendency to wheel-spin. Softening the dampers at this time of the year will improve traction somewhat.

However, if it is cold and damp then there is nothing that will stop the rear from letting go if you are too enthusiastic with the loud pedal.

What tyres are you running?

Most tyres we can get for our cars are rated as "Summer" tyres.

Was being a little naughty and giving it some welly down a duel carriagway the other day dampish road, even had some extra weight in the back with one of lads squeezed in there and she let go at 85? first time at that speed and although very controlable did cause a little tightening of a certain muscle although i think my lad in the back might have had a reverse of that!!! be aware winter is here???

When my car wheelspins and hits the rev limit I get a strange "beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep" sound from under the dash? Strange? Anyone else?

Ah, that explains things, I always thought it was a horn and I was hitting the horn button with my thumb as it normally only happens during driving if a sideways nature!

I had this with mine, but felt more like axle tramping. A 12k service and some new rear shocks later she hunkers down in 2nd with no spin, unless you want to whistle

Why are people shocked that such a light car with awesome torque and sometimes on old rubber tend to get wheelspin easily?
Its part of the fun but also a big problem for me at the strip.
At a meeting this year at Shakey the track was 104deg and i was still wheelspinning in 4th on 888's with only 12psi in them.... go figure?!

Its all down to conditions..... be careful out there guys, especially this time of year.
