Hi Guys
Can you keep a watch out for my 335D Sport Touring stolen in Leamington Spa yesterday (Sat) afternoon between 3 and 4pm - Reg is a private plate - L33 RPW - its black and has a silver Lotus 7 Club sticker on the right hand side of the tailgate.

The Scum broke in to my locker while I was at the gym and nicked the keys etc.

Thanks

Did you notice anyone follow you in?

They cant have broken into every locker just in search for any old set of keys - thats too risky.

Sorry to hear that Captain Slowcoach.

There has been a spate of this recently in Leamington and Warwick. Apparently there are a couple of gangs, one from Coventry and one from Birmingham, who are targetting the area at the moment. At least 3 cars were nicked off the estate I live on last week.

Hope you have a suitable outcome to this one.

Matt

Any word on the gym CCTV ? The thieves must be on it if they've come out of the changing room.

My god, i live near kenilworth and had a recent attempted breakin, ang this must be the reason. I have only recently brought a 330d and on monday night was awoken by my dog going beserk downstairs (he has never barked in the night), went downstairs and could see nothing outside. In the morning realised that the outer door had been broken so he must of scared them off....phew

CSC,

Don't know you, but feel free to drop me a mail if you want to go for a beer and have a rant at someone! I had my car targetted a few years ago, so kinda know what you're going through.

I am near Warwick also, about a year ago I "overtook" and unmarked police scooby, they pulled me over and gave me a telling off and they said they were on a special patrol in the area looking for these guys and thought I was one.

Not sure it helps CSC especially but it has been going on for a while, do you guys have garages or do you park on the drive/road?

Sorry to hear about your news; it's very unsettling being a victim of crime, for what it is worth, you have my sympathies.

As for the scrotes who stole your car, burn them.

Fellas - could do with your opinions please...

No word from PC Plod on anything at all - just no contact from them - guess they are too busy issuing fixed penalty notices to folks who have gone over their 30 mins parking allowance.

Insurers have been on to me - had a call from there assessor asking about the car, I spoke to the garage I got it from and they say between £25 and £27 k - probably lower end than higher (car is a 335d touring with a very good spec; 2.5 years old ; 18.5k miles; SatNav, leather, lots of goodies and complete history) - wisely or foolishly I told the assessor what the garage had said and that I have got a few for sale ads to back it up. What tack should I take with them now ?? They are coming back tomorrow with an 'Offer'.

Frankly I would be surprised if the car is seen again - sadly - its either in bits or on the way to Eastern Europe by now. Plod - well they could not give a toss it seems - a sad state, but guess thats a symptom of todays society and governance.

IF the car were to be found (and assuming its ok) I would happily have it back (would you know what I mean when I say you have a car - but you dont think you have 'finished' with it?)

Still piggin upset by it all... Bas*ards...

Thats rather annoying but to be honest I wouldnt want that car back. Id take my settlement and buy another. Upsetting I know but thats life Jim.

As for the B'sIB, I wouldnt expect any contact from them. You phone up, report it stolen and thats it. Dont expect to hear anything until its found or someone is caught. There isnt much else to add.

I doubt very much their lack of contact is because they couldnt give a toss, they are just under funded and understaffed. But thats the way of the world, as you concluded yourself.

In the absence of any evidence/leads I guess the chances of a conviction are pretty remote so BIB won't put time/effort in. The best you can hope is that it pings an ANPR or otherwise attracts a PCs attention but as you say, as a high-end motor it's probably in a shipping container somewhere, ready to go..

If YOU were bothered about a 30k car why didnt you spend a couple of hundred quid and have a tracker fitted, Police would have found it within hours............

I really dont understand why people dont do this????

What do you want them to do ?
They'll be looking out for it via ANPR, other than that . . . ?

With regard to your insurers, they need to give you enough to replace the car with an equivalent one. Obviously you should use BMW Approved used cars to support your argument as they're normally priced higher than at other dealers.
Don't let them argue that the 'book price' is lower because you won't be able to buy a car at 'book price'.

Been through this with Direct Line for 2 cars in the past - both times they've improved their original offer to dealer prices.

One of the reasons not everyone goes with a Tracker is because there is little or no reduction in insurance premiums.

I currently have a tracker but this attracts no discount - not a penny.

The argument therefore is that is the car goes do you really want it back? If you really do then fit and subscribe a Tracker - if it goes and you'd rather not have your car back after it has been racing around with a bunch of chavs don't bother with a Tracker - especially as your insurance might not be much cheaper.

Doubtless lots of insurers offer a discount but mine don't and I assume lots of others don't either.

I agree about the insurance cost point, but the purpose of the tracker isnt to attract lower insurance premia, it is to protect the car.

If the car is a high end car like this I suspect it is stolen to order rather than joyriders and therefore probably in perfect condition so getting it back shouldnt be a problem.

I guess my real issue is the OP 'moaning' at lack of action by Police; what does he expect them to do, get every police man randomly driving round looking for his car? TBH there is very little they can actually do.

Fair point

Agreed - might feel like you're being let down but what can the BiB actually do?
