BMW 540 down in Aberdeen

Had the car breakdown yesterday in the pouring rain.

Charge light came on, the the dash lit up like a christmas tree, the display said something about a transmission safe mode (auto) then nothing, dead as. Luckily i wised to its early demise and pulled off before I made Haudigain roundabouts traffic worse.

Does anyone happen to have any ideas as to whats likely to be the problem? (battery? Alternator?) and a garage I could use?

Not got a clue I'm afraid,

Sounds like battery.

They tend to behave wierdly when the batter is on the way out.

Fingers crossed it's not the alternator.
