Sorry if this has been done to death but I'm after some opinions. The car is a 2000x non-sport 330 coupe from an independant dealer who is offering me a reasonable part-ex price on my car. Book price for these cars is around £4500 to £5500 however this has alot of nice extras and I'm wondering if its worth the £6500 its up for.

Only 55k miles with 2 previous owners and full bmwsh. Mileage seems genuine.
Brand new MV2 alloys with brand new budget tyres (kinforest??)
Full leather sport interior
Sunroof and aircon.

Its in very good condition but its a lot of cash for an x-reg car. Lots of newer ones for sale for a similar price but with much higher mileage.

Someone put me off please biggrin

I feel that is expensive for a NON sport.

I would disagree. Most E46 Coupes have around £2k profit in them for the seller so that is about right - especially for that mileage. However i would still haggle hard.

I managed to get £250 knocked off and they are offering £3000 (£250 above book price allegedly) for my car which I bought 14 months ago, from the same dealers, for £4000. So the cost to change is £3250 and I will have lost £1000 from my car plus the £500 I've just spent on tyres and brakes for it.

I still like my car so I'm not desperate to get rid and I'd planned on a maximum cost to change of £3000 or I'd walk away.

I'm rubbish at haggling.

Thats about right from a dealer- you're paying around an £800-£1000 premium for the dealer though. It's not really worth it- hunt around and get a similar car private and save the money. Might even get close to £5k with 60k odd miles. If you're worried about warrenties you can get those from a third party (even tesco do them now for ~£200)

I could maybe get £3500 for my car selling private however because of the type of car it is I dont really fancy going down this route so part-ex is an attractive option for me.

I'm struggling to find similar examples of the bmw to compare it to. Theres plenty of cheaper ones but they have higher miles and/or less spec. Similar mileage examples are usually newer and more expensive.

I paid £6750 for an 02 330ci MSport manual with FBMWSH a month ago with 64k on the clock from a dealer as a reference.

Also saw a nice black 330ci Msport for sale on bmwland last week for something like £6500 with 80k on the clock.

Tell the dealer you're only willing to pay £3k and see what he says. If he says no, leave your details and say if he changes his mind to give you a call.

I offered £3000 or £2750 with the original 17" wheels on rather than the 18s with crap tyres however it was sold the next day. Quite pleased as it was a bit older than what I wanted and was really after a sport.
Thanks for the replies everyone.

i think thats hugely overpriced. I sold a 2000 plate SE with all sport options fitted from new (apart from the aero kit) albeit with 90k on the clock for 4k.
