Afternoon all - well outside my comfort zone here but a female colleague at work has a 55 plate Focus ST with the ESP failure warning light displaying.

Dealerships apparently want circa £2000 to address and I wondered if this is a common problem or if there is a cheaper fix?

Any constructive thoughts would be most welcome, kind regards

There is tonnes of info on various ESP problems on www.focusstoc.com .You'll need to pay for a subscription to access some of the Forum areas, but you might find something relevant in the free sections.

TBH Ive never heard of any ESP failure issues on the ST, Alot of people get the MIL light on after fitting upgraded downpipes but not really heard of ESP faults.

As has been sid though focusstoc.com is the place to go

Not the MAF sensor is it? That can cause problems and is quite a cheap fix.

I know the Mondeo ST had a recall for the gyro sensor(IIRC), surely all it needs is plugging into WDS(or whatever they use now) to find out what the issue is?

It hasn't just had replacement brake pads / discs has it? I'm thinking maybe the wheel rotation sensor cable got damaged.

ESP faults quite common on STs..... one of the 1st things to check is tyre pressures... the sensor is very sensitive as has been known to be effected bu something as simple as that.

Turbo pipe leaks would cause the Stability Program fail light to illuminate?
