I find there's a massive variation in spec between various 328i's, anyone know what came as standard and what packs there were? Just so I know what to look for smile

Thanks!

Also, is the auto box any good?

I'm having a real problem finding a Manual 328i Sport with low mileage!

Doh! I just sold one - there aren't many out there.

Several key variables depending on age. LSD vs TCS is an obvious one on the early cars i.e. the very early sports have an LSD, later ones have TCS. Climate control, full leather etc, all options. What are you thinking of specifically?

I'd skip the auto personally.

Its superb with a very smooth change. Sport mode is fun too, with no noticeable difference in performance to the manual.

Go try one, you might like it smile

Hi,

Thanks for the help, I think I'm going to go for a Focus ST170/Mondeo ST220 instead as I'm finding it hard to find a good nick E36 and I don't think I'll get insured on a newer BMW frown

It's ok, don't worry, I'm back to looking at these cars! I'm worried about ending up with a shed though, my mechanical experience is very limited frown

Look around, they are out there. The Auto box on my 528 is very very good and in sports mode its even better, I think the E36 has the same or similar gearbox. Buy on condition, higher mileage BMWS are often a safer bet than unused low mileage ones, as they have more likely been subjected to longer kinder journeys than a 50k mile 10 year old car. Get to know a good garage or indie and you will be alright, they can be quite complicated and expensive if they go wrong, any car can regardless of make and I wouldn't say you are better of financially with a Ford. My mates 2002 Focus TDCI has cost him at least £2000 in two years of ownership and it still isn't right, my E39 recently cost me over £1000.

I've an 99/T avus blue/silver leather 328i Sport with 73k miles. Might consider letting it go for the right price.

ETA: It's manual too.
