I have been looking for M3's and have stumbled upon one that belongs to a customer of mine. It is a 53 plate, one lady owner, 45k miles. Needs inspection 2, wheels refurbed and a good valet. It has every extra, is oxford green with black leather. I like it but haven't really considered a convertible. Don't know why but have it in my head I will look a bit of a tart in one. However if the price was right I think I would bite the bullet buy it and get a hardtop for it for the winter. What do you folks think would be a price that I couldn't say no to?

Cheers,

Ed.

Prices seem to be all over the place at the moment, especially on low mileage one owner examples. Oxford green not a particularly sought after colour which could hinder you when it comes time for resale. There again if you keep it a while you`ll be laughing. Bearing that in mind and that it needs insp.2 and wheel refurb, why don`t you go in with an offer of £12k ish and see where you go from there? You will definitely want that hardtop as well, transforms the look of the car for Winter.

Ed,

I'd think long and hard about a hard top. I've got a cab and thought the same the first winter I had the car...but then, roof down motoring on a frost morning is awesome!

Hard tops are £500 upwards and, IMO, look great on, but it stops the open top motoring. When I read a few posts about poeple saying the roofs are easy to nick (anyone know if thats heresay or fact?), I opted for a wind deflector at £160 and its the best thing I've bought for the car. It blocks the back seats, but makes a big difference on colder days.

All the best.

I think they look great with the hardtop/roof down. This one was on PH a few months back:

When I bought my coupe I was impartial as to whether my car would be a coupe or cabrio. In the end the right coupe came up first.

The only real differences are that the M3 cab gets the standard Sport seats rather than the M3 seats. Obviously the cab is a bit heavier too.

Do note that Oxford Green is unfortunately the least desirable e46 M3 colour on the market, so it may be hard to shift on as mentioned above.

I'm suprised that oxford green is an undesirable colour. Ithought it was quite nice when I saw it. The sale of that car isn't looking very likely at the moment.
I have however found another local car but am struggling with the seller. It is a 53 plate black smg coupe, has only done 23k miles and has all the extras except nav. My only problem is the owner is dead set on part exchanging it at a dealers for a new shape M3. For some reason he thinks he will get a better deal from them than by selling to me. I am working on it though.
