daughter wiped a CD-RW of all our holiday snaps, but the folders titles are still there, can I recover the pics somehow?

The answer is 'maybe'. It all depends on how your little angel did the wiping.

You need a tool called 'Iso Buster' from www.isobuster.com .

Another possible is Winhex:

I used it to recover wiped files from a Memory Stick and it was excellent.
