Heads up for tonight, 20:30, BBC2. Brendan Gleeson as Churchill so should be worth a watch.

[quote]While awaiting the results of the 1945 general election that would remove him from office, Winston Churchill recalls the events of World War Two and ponders their effect on his health and marriage. Flashbacks reveal the high and low points as Britain fought the threat of Nazism that swept across Europe, with Churchill at the helm. Fact-based drama, starring Brendan Gleeson, Janet McTeer, James D'Arcy, Iain Glen and Patrick Malahide

Absolutely superb, every bit as good as the excellent "The Gathering Storm". I thought that Brendan Gleeson gave a fine performance as Churchill. Vey moving also, especially the "fight them on the beaches" speech and the final scene in the theatre.

I was impressed - and moved.

It was interesting all the Irish connections in the story -

Gleeson is Irish
Patrick Malahide is the son of Irish immigrants (Malahide is a rather pretty town on the coast north of Dublin)
Malahide played Montogomery, who was part Irish (his family were from Donegal)
