Well are the e46 m3 prices rising back up???
Discussion
Whats everyones opinion on the prices of the e46 m3`s then?
A couple of month back i had been looking at them while trying to sell my bike, you were getting decent ones with 60 to 70k fbmw s/h maybe 02 /52 for 11 to 12k, but even they kind of cars are up at 13k now, strangley enough tho some 04 plates are 14k with little extras and that horrible brown trim.
Im in the market for one now and been to view 2, an 04 plate and an 02 plate for different reasons i choose not to buy, but looking back i might just have at the price, now i feel im in danger of just buying one incase they rise well up again.
I no theres a few people with some good knowledge on here and i wouldnt mind a few different opinions
Thanks Johnny

They values have fairly toughened of late, this time last year they were losing £1k per month in the book, a month after paying 19995 for my 54plate M3 I checked the book and I was horrified
The low milage examples with good options and history are the ones that are going to hold their price, standard examples with no mods are also IMO more desireable too
The prices will eventually stabilise but they won't be falling as fast as they did last year, Xmas 08 was a very good time to buy

Yes indeedy. I bought my sub-20k miles 55 plate CS 2 weeks before Christmas last year for an unbelievable price and although I would make money selling it today, I never bought it for that reason. Long term, it will of course depreciate. I also agree that the ones to go for are the well-specced, low mileage examples. And I would highly recommend the CS - the best bits being the M-track mode DSC and the sharper steering. However, they may not fall in your budget. Having said that I wouldn't rush out and buy one - as someone else said, more likely to be a temporary blip and it's not like the economy is recovering particularly quickly, and with Christmas just around the corner, I wouldn't be surprised to see some prices soften.Good luck.
Whilst the "UK economy" is slow in recovering, there is evidence of disposable income increasing. The two appear contradictory however the effect of trying to stimulate the economy is that some people will enjoy the benefit of the stimulus without the pain of a downturn.
I guess Z4MC prices are firming up as they were only available in limited numbers. Just like at the price disparity between a Roadster and a Coupe!
My wife has access to insurance stats on total losses by model and she tells me that the MC has suffered a significantly higher level of total loss than any other BMW by percentage since 2006. This will no doubt be distorted by the low initial numbers but if the numbers are going down and market interest remains in the car then supply and demand dictates prices going up.
In the longer term it will be standard cars with sought after colour options and good extras which will hold the value better. Despite what a car dealer will tell you, options can increase resale value as an unusual combination of sought after options can increase the value of a car beyond the purchase price of the options in the first place.

I've had mine nearly four years now, & its never let me down in any way.
Its had main dealer only servicing & no financial restriction when it comes to maintaining it, along with keeping the BMW warranty in place.
They are great cars. Mine's been half hartedly for sale in the classifieds because i fancy a change & can't justify another car on the drive, but i don't really want to let it go. My wife has suggested that we sell her a class, she has the M3 & i get a weekend toy, so a possible result!
