When I took my body off the car the steering linkage, ie: uj-2-uj was so bloody rusty and tight I used the downward weight of the body versus the chassis to force the issue to resolve itself.

Now that I'm ready to put the body back on, and have since removed all steering UJ's with a chissel-bit pnuematic hammer, I have a question...

Can I replace the body and then fit in the steering UJ's and shaft after the fact with enough room to do that job, or will I have to line it all up at body dropping time?

Or might I have to pull back the in cockpit steering colummn a few inches?

Lining up the splines is easy, but I HATE a non-oriented (ie: cock-eyed) steering wheel.

Should be able to change the uj in situ, as it will slide down so that you can align and then slid up to shaft just below bulkhead bush - well it did on mine when I changed them smile

Somewhere I saw an ad for steering column vibration damper. IIRC, it was a sleeve looking deal with universal joints, used for street rods. Might be work a look. No idea if it would be worth the trouble. Grady

You can fit the steering shaft etc. with the body on no probs. I've just changed both UJ's and the bulkhead bearing on mine.
