Rather stating the obvious, but just make sure you check out the company carefully and make sure it is a UK company you deal with if routing around online!

Try all of these:

Orangewheels

AutoFinders

Carfile

Autobytel

CarPriceChecker

Broadspeed

Autoebid

Broker4cars

DealDrivers

Uknewcars

Coast2CoastCars

DriveTheDeal

BuyACar

There is no single place that is cheaper for every single Golf model, it depends what you want.

How about negotiating with your local dealer to be gauranteed a UK spec car with full warrenty rather than potentially an import.

That's what I tried with my own car last time (2007) but he wouldn't come close, and was arrogant and rude, so I got the car I wanted from a website - albeit with a 2 year instead of a 3 year warranty, but apart from that there doesn't seem to be any downsides ..

Thanks all for the suggestions, I'll pass them on.

These days the brokers just act as introductory agencies between a customer and dealer. They don't actually supply the car, just put you in touch with somebody who can and charge a comission.

The days when some of those places supplied imports are gone, as cars are generally cheaper to buy new in the UK now due to changing exchange rates.
