I need 2 new rear tyres and i've been quoted £437 (inc vat & fitting) per tyre for Mich Pilot Sport 265/35zr19 from my local dealer, which has them in stock.

Blackcircles has them for £300. But they are on backorder, and i've tried other places and they are on back order.

Has anybody else had any problems getting hold of them? And what prices have you paid?

Have you tried Costco, they seem to have the easiest time getting them as that's all they sell.

IIRC the last one I bought from them (for a single) without any discount was £240 - but that was in January and the poor value of sterling might have increased that price.

You could try Motorsport Wheels, I paid £300 each for mine including VAT and fitting. I use the Leeds depot (01132188777) and have done for many years. They're more of a distribution centre so there's no coffee machine or swanky reception area.

Not sure where abouts you're located but they do have quite a few locations (www.mswuk.com). Don't use the website to check stock it's better to call to get the latest stock or delivery times. You should be able to haggle on price a bit as well.

Good luck.

HOW MUCH?!

Event Mobile Tyres is the place. They won't be much more than £150 each.

Also try Bracknell Tyre and Battery

You cannot beat Bracknell Tyre & Battery. I've been buying tyres from him for 13 years and haven't known anywhere cheaper despite looking.

He could do with a haircut though! hehe

I've just ordered some from kwik fit for £283.75.

Something doesn't feel right. They seem too cheap.

I believe the recommended ones by BMW are the 265/35 ZR19 98Y Xtra Load PS2 tyres and are usually marked specifically as "BMW approved" on most websites. I would double check the spec, load and speed ratings but I'm not sure how much difference the "xtra load" and "BMW approved" really means in the end. The only sure thing is that it raises the price a heck of a lot.

Perhaps someone else on PH can shed some light on this. Do you really need the "Xtra load" and "BMW approved" 98Y spec or is it just marketing blurb to bump up the price?

I ordered the wrong tyres. You have to make sure they are 98Y and XL (Extra Load), on the Michelin Pilot sports.

They have now gone up to £330 with event mobile.

It's a bit far for me to travel. I'm in Bolton.

Kwik fit have got them, and they are a little bit more than the £288 each i've paid online. But i don't know how much extra until i get them fitted this afternoon.

Ah, fair enough. Not too sure if they do mail order either.

Before you go call Motorsport Wheels in Manchester to see what they will do them for. At least you can then haggle with KwikFit or go there if they try to charge you silly money this PM.

The number is: 0161 474 7287

Might not be that much better but you never know. Paying for two rear tyres is painful, I had to get all four at once..... ouch!

They're not even PS Cups at that price which is ridiculous. What size/rating/loading are the Conti Sport Contact 3's? Would also be interested in how they compare to PS2's.

Just had a look at the Conti website and it says they don't do the required tyre. Are you sure about them being the new OEM tyre for the E92 M3?

I've ended up with Cups on the rear for £325. Couldn't get hold of ps2 XL anywhere.

I've heard they aren't too good in the wet. Anybody heard or experienced any different. I was very happy with the pilot sports, and don't like change.

Thanks for everybodys inputs.
