They have slight imperfections, so I want to steer clear of gloss which will show them up, so I'm wondering what to use to get an attractive, white finish but matt enough to hide small imperfections...?

Are vinyl silk or satinwood best or should I consider something else if these are likely to be too glossy?

Satinwood seems to be 'trendy'. If mdf doors, prime well and go for a solvent based paint as it won't just disappear into the porous mdf like a waterbased paint will .. particularly on your newly routed and jigsawed cupboard doors with 'rustic' wobbley edges smile

Eggshell finish is always pretty nice. I tend to paint all interior wood in it and it works well.

+1 agree, also use one or two coats of good undercoat paint.
