One would hope their legal system is a rigorous one.

"He will be beheaded by sword then his body tied to a wooden cross and his head stuck on a pole as a deterrent".

That'll teach him. Say what you like about the system in these countries, and this punishment is barbaric in the extreme, but this character will not be re offending.

In Britain he'd probably be back on the streets in 10 years. (Ok maybe not this particular specimen but plenty of child abusers and murderers are).

And indeed he may not have offended at all.

Still, i've absolutely no doubt they got a confession out of him. smile

"About half of the 1,695 executed between 1985 and 2008 were foreign workers unable to pay the blood money that relatives of murder victims can demand in lieu of the death penalty, according to Amnesty.

Amnesty said there were reports that al-Ramaly may have been suffering from a psychological disorder.

Well, he's a kiddy fiddler so yes, wrong in the head. Not an excuse though.

Does anyone know how a Saudi plod extracts a confession? I.e. is it by way of hot pokers etc. or free will? i.e. how reliable is a confession?

They are going to cut his head off with a sword and stick it on a pole.....i think it's a fair assumption he doesnt get a frothy coffee in the "interview" chamber.

I used to live in Saudi. God help you if you're in town when there's a beheading going on. All the "white eyes" used to get shoved to the front of the mob to witness it up close.

Nisus Wettus: Crucifixion?
Mr. Cheeky: Ah, no. Freedom.
Nisus Wettus: What?
Mr. Cheeky: Eh, freedom for me. They said I hadn't done anything, so I can go free and live on an island somewhere.
Nisus Wettus: Oh, oh that´s jolly good well. Off you go then.
Mr. Cheeky: No, I'm only pulling your leg, it's crucifixion really!
Nisus Wettus: [laughing] Oh, I see, very good. Well...
Mr. Cheeky: Yes I know, out the door, one cross each, line on the left.

Well, on the basis of Utilitarian Jurisprudence (Google it) I think that even if this guy didn't do it, the deterrance factor will perusade anyone who like raping kids to keep it in their trousers, don't you?

He did, as it goes. He left one of the children to die of thirst in the desert after he'd anally raped him. They found his body dessicated where he fell, with 100% burns.

forget beheading....if only we had a few canes across bums for drunk and disorderly in this country...all the social problems would disappear overnight!

Same for petty theft...forget prisons..

I dont agree with the sharia system but i am convinced that in the interest of law and order it acts as a better deterrant than our current prisons who supply vegan soap etc to prisoners..

And if this was in the UK and he was to face capital punishment people that would be fine would it?
