Sourcing 1.8t 20v head
Discussion
Hi Folks,
Looks like the head is cracked on my car, I'm just about to start looking around, but if anyone has any suggestions as to where a 1.8t 20v head can be found either newly refurbished or second hand but with no cracks then that would be helpful.
Should be pretty much the same as on any VAG 1.8t from around 2000, however I need to do some checking on that.
Cheers,
Ben
PS. it's almost funny, I joined PH when my cars engine went bang the first time.

www.allaudi.co.uk are good breakers.
this chap is a bit newer and from the chat seems like a decent bloke, but never deal with him personally.

Thanks have sent of enquirys and will give them a call as well when I get chance.
ETA: Guy from the garage spoke to a VAG dealer, it's ~£1600+ vat for a new head not sure whether to
or
to be honest.

It's not the garage that's the problem, he's actually being great, it's VAG's charge for a new head that I can't justify on a car that's really not worth that much any more. On the plus side the block itself looks pretty good for 80k
Hopefully the garage has found a few options that will help, he's already found one inc valves for around £550 but that's slightly unknown.

Well all the people I tried to contact didn't really have anything useful to say. However it would appear the garage it's at have been able to find a refursbished head with 20 new valves and a 2 year garuntee for not daft money! So hopefully car will be back on the road soon and work for another 60-80k.
