Occasionally when i start my CV8 and move away, having been parked up, there is a random bong noise but no message or lights or anything else to suggest what it is? It normally happens after being in the car for about a minute, whether driving or just sat on the driveway with the engine running having just started.
It will happen for a few days and then won't happen again for a while.

Any suggestions?

Please explain the bong noise a bit more. Is it in line with engine revs? Is it a whine or a ping or a boing or a squeal?
Where is it coming from? Does it fade after some driving?

Is this a pi55 take or not? Oh well.

It is literally a bong noise. It does it twice i think, but no other lights or warning flashes come on the dash. Seatbelt is always fastened, handbrake off. Car can be moving or stationary. It is a noise made by an electronic device, as opposed to something mechanical happening somewhere that shouldn't be. If it happens, it will be within the 1st minute of starting the car, whether i have remained sat on the driveway without moving, or on the move. It then won't do it again until i start the car another time.

Does that help BathCV8?

So is it the same bong noise as if you had not put the seatbelt on ? As in, you know its coming from the dash/car ?

Does it happen when the radio is on ? Have you a mobile phone which automatically links to a car kit ?

My suggestion would be to try the car without seatbelt or with handbrake on and see if its the same as either boing.

Could be poor contact in a switch after the long period of non-usage.

Mechanical contacts are the source of the majority of problems related to electrical failures (automotive, aerospace and commercial electronics).
