Can`t see the value holding up well, but no s/h around.

An acquired taste I think! Perhaps for those that feel a Graham is too subtle?

My son in law has one and I have to say I really rate it - very eyecatching, very different and well made.

I think they're awesome, but I couldn't justify spending so much on a depreciating asset. frown

ETA- Even if I had anything like the disposable income

I really like these, but guessing they are quite expensive then?

It only depreciates if you sell it - bit like cars really.
Answer keep it and its always worth what you paid.

The engine / automotive link is pretty cool, but just how innovative are their movements? For the cash, you'd expect the watches to be large hunks of precious metal, or some crazy in-house movement like Richard Mille.

And as to automotive / engineering links to watches, that Tag Heuer with the belt drive is the daddy. How much was that (there was a thread about it recently...) - I know what I'd rather have if I had the luxury of choosing between a £20k BRM and the Tag belt-drive watch. Now *that's* innovative engineering biggrin

I've just had a look at the Jura site for all the BRM watches - and they're not all that sort of money.

The majority are between £2k and £6k.

However the odd bespoke 'special' is big money.

The movement in this one looks pretty damn interesting, and definitely a case of 'Formula 1 materials technology' - but £38k? That's a lot of money... what does Richard Mille offer for £38k? I'd guess a similar type of cutting-edge materials and engineering? For some reason I see BRM as being in the same space as RM, even though the cheapest RM is more than £10k IIRC and most of the BRMs are £4k pieces with what appear to be ETA movements...

Definitely decent marketing by BRM to catch me out! tongue out

Self confessed fan of BRM here too. I have a V12-44 which I've been very happy with since buying it last July.

As soon as I can figure out how to work my new digital camera I'll post some pics.

WARNING: It's rose gold though so many of you won't like it....!!

Eye-catching (but bordering eccentric) is probably all I could say about these. Maybe one for a collection rather than the wrist laugh

I always thought they were cheapo watches (like <£500).

Shows what I know...

Me too. They look a bit too "novelty" to cost big bucks.

That watch has been on the inside back cover of the last 2 issues of EVO magazine, and I think it looks fantastic. I had previously hoped to add a new Breitling to my collection if bonuses were half decent this year, and hoped that the BRM might be a similar price.

£17k puts it a bit out of budget for me!

If I won the lottery I think I'd be in the market for the Rose Gold and Platinum version for £45k though!

I'm very close to purchasing one of these ( http://www.jurawatches.co.uk/watch.asp?productid=5... ) but, without actually `trying one on for size` i'm a bit unsure as to the depth of the time piece. I already own a Panerai Luminor Base, does anyone know how these would compare size wise against each other?

Cheers.

Hope I'm answering this query correctly but I've measured my V12-44 and it's 1.4cm think - er, hope I don't sound stupid when I ask is that what you meant by depth (or were speaking more conceptually)? Can't help with the Panerai comparison.

By the way, Jura do the 30 day "no quibble" returns policy which I've availed of before so if you're unsure that may be one option.

Let us know what you decide.

Yep thats pretty much what i was asking. The distance between the face and back (the surface that rest's on ones wrist) I'll have a measure of the Panerai when i get home today. I just get the impression from the pictures that the particular BRM that i'm looking at is a bit on the bulky side.
After the festive period is over i'll give Jura a call or pop in there to see what they can do for me or see what they have on the shelf. I'd hate them to order in specially a timepiece for me, for me to try it on once in the shop and say "no thanks sir, it's a bit to much on the large side"

Thanks for the reply ! smile
