Who used to watch this when they were younger? I watched it when it was on sky in the 90's and really enjoyed it.

The first episode of the new series was aired in the US on Tuesday night and I thought it was pretty good start even if it was a complete rip off of independence day when the ships turned up.

Anyone else watching?

Watched it last night, been getting excited about it for ages. Only vaguely remember the original series and didn't want to watch it again recently as it'll probably take away from this one.

Enjoyed the first episode, some big effects, looking forward to the rest of the series.

Wife fell asleep about half way through!

Never seen the original series but I've heard it was a good watch, anyone know when/where it's going to be shown over here?

I watched it back when it was originally on. It had a special schedule and was on every night at 11 I think. My mum let me stay up and watch it..ta mumbiggrin

I always thought that Independence Day was such a rip off of Vbiggrin

Watched the new episode last night - very good, and there was a comment of some kids somewhere around the start saying that "Independence day was a rip off ...."

It was good, maybe a little fast paced (rare these days?), but thats down to them only testing the waters and trying to get some viewing figures for the first 4 episodes - then they decide if its worth going for a full season.

Slight change in the old 80s show story - the aliens have been living amongst us for a little while .... nice change.

Watched this yesterday, and as a fan of the original, I was a little dubious of the new one. however, it seems OK. Judgement will have to be reserved for a few episodes, but it doesn't look like a complete ruiniation...

Speaking of remakes, 'The Prisoner' is out soon...

I'd read something about that .... ever so slightly worrying, and no doubt they'll get it completely wrong.

Watched this last night, overall not bad. Pacing of the show seems just right enough happens to keep your interest without overloading you with crazy details and dialogue.

I'll keep watching until "the baby" arrives!

Just watched the new one and didn't think it was too bad.
Who's going to play the nutter though? Michael Ironside was Well 'ard in the original.

Sometimes HD is a curse.....was nearly sick when I saw that teenager's monster cold sore on his top lip. vomityuck

Loved the reference to The 4400 though.

Overall the first episode was OK but some of the CGI was a bit suspect.

Yes Stu.

It was a mini series that was a huge hit. It then had a cheesy spin-off series in the late eighties.

Cheers mate! I don't recall the cheesy spin off, but I am sure the first series was big in my part of the world, but then I was a young lad then...
