Replacing the Brake Master Cylinder
Discussion
Looks like I may have to roll my sleeves up and have a go at this myself as it seems too labour intensive to justify paying somebody else to do it. (8 hours)
Anyone on here done this themselves ?
From what I've been told, you need to remove the peddle box to gain access - is this a do-able job for an average Joe or should it really be left to the experts ?

I did mine a few months ago, yes you can remove the master cylinder without removing the pedal box,but it was easier with the clutch master cylinder removed at the same time, which is only a 20 minute job, may be worth replacing that as well, fit and forget syndrome, sods law you`ll have to go back there in a couple of months time if you don`t.
remove the inspection panel on the inner wing, get a sharp knife around the silicon bead round the reservoir, then pull the reservoir out, it does go eventually, have plenty of rags handy to soak up the spilt brake fluid whemn you pull it out though.
also remove the servo pipe from the inner wing, through this hole you can then get an extension bar through to undo the lower cylinder mounting bolt.
undoing the brake pipes is tricky if they are as tight as a nun`s whatsit, but with a bit of wiggling around with a short spanner it should be okay, fit the new one, connect up the pipes and fit the reservoir, a good bead of silicon around the top and bleed the brakes.
should take no more than 3 hours all in.
