Old Family Business Photo's
Discussion
Hi people, we were having some silos demolished on our families industrial estate in Widnes when we found a set of old photo's from the companies prime.
I'm working for our families company and it is almost ready to celebrate it's centenary. It's my dad (Davel) who runs the show now.
I just thought I'd share them, not by any means to promote our business but because they're important to me and there are some truly incredible photo's.
At the time Adam Lythgoe Ltd was one of the largest lime and fertiliser companies in the UK. Since then the company has diversified and now concentrates on industrial property management.
We've just bought a new scanner and I wanted to put it to the test, I just hope these are of interest!

Interesting stuff - must be great to have a record like that. I especially liked the second one.
My old geography teacher was a bit of a local history buff and many years ago he happened to come across a skip outside a building which was being renovated. In the skip were boxes of old glass plate negatives and photographs of Chelmsford which the builders were just clearing out. Think he managed to salvage quite a number of them, but they could so easily have been lost.

My dad loves that photo too. I'm really quite proud of the business, although it's much smaller now. We even found early sales ledgers that go even as early as 1918!My old geography teacher was a bit of a local history buff and many years ago he happened to come across a skip outside a building which was being renovated. The first picture is more important to me, as a Manxman it's great to see our family co loading a Manx ship with our lime.
